The Bold Shoulder

By: Madelyn Chung
In the tenth grade, my friends and I had to dress up in 1940s garb for our history class. I remember how mortified I was wearing my mom’s vintage blazer with obnoxiously large shoulder pads, thinking that my outfit would be mistaken for a Halloween costume of Frankenstein.
Little did I know, five years later I would be scrambling to find that same blazer.
That’s the beauty of fashion. Designers are constantly returning back to trends, causing us to search for clothes we had pushed to the dusty corners of …

Underwear as Outerwear

By: Madelyn Chung
Celebrities have a love/hate relationship with undergarments. First it was no panties. Now, underwear has become outerwear.
We’ve seen Lady Gaga prance down the streets sans pants, with her lingerie shamelessly exposed to the world. It made several appearances at the …

Summer Must Have: The Romper

By: Madelyn Chung
Having trouble finding that perfect summer staple for your wardrobe?
You might want to consider picking up this season’s must-have: the romper.
The trend emerged last summer and made its way onto Derek Lam, Betsey Johnson, and Alexander Wang’s runways this season. Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively is a fan, recently sporting a teal-blue ADAM romper at the CW Network Party.
The romper first appeared in 1910 as playwear for younger children, particularly boys. It is believed to have originated from the bloomer, and is known as the first “true” play suit. …

I am a devout Project Runway Canada fan, verging on obsession. So you can imagine how excited I was to be volunteering for LG Fashion Week during the Finale taping. Although I was stationed in the Media Lounge, I had something different in mind.
My mission: to see Iman live in the flesh and to hug Sunny Fong, my favourite contestant on the show.
In a desperate attempt to get in, I begged the girl guarding the door to the show, telling her I was a volunteer, but I just didn’t have …
