From Ferragamo to Louis Vuitton it appears the fashion set has a growing love affair with a certain Upper East Side girl. Rosy dimples and chestnut locks prettily grace the pages of Vogue and Best Dressed Lists are abuzz with her svelte pose. What is the name of this girl you might ask? Why it’s the flawlessly dressed Olivia Palermo.

Similar to other fashion ingénues Olivia Palermo’s style dabbles into current trends while staying true to a few classics that flatter her figure. Slim pants are neatly hemmed to her ankles, skirts politely graze mid thigh, and like a proper society girl her shoulders are typically covered in a tailored jacket. The occasional sweater is seen, yet this is usually when walking the dog. Like a good little fashionista she knows that these shapes and hemlines flatter her long and lean column shape by drawing the eye to create curves ensuring she always looks delicate and sweet.

Understanding the key pieces that flatter her figure allows Olivia to boldly flaunt a canary yellow dress, prom pink ruffle skirt, and gigantic flares when she so feels like it! And, guess what? She looks fashionably perfect in them all!

If her prim and pretty face ranges high on your style icon list, first and foremost understand what flatters you. Yes, you. Hourglass figures should avoid baggy clothing and flaunt their curves in fitted dresses, high waisted skirts, and skinny pants. If you have a roundish apple shape, show off your legs and nip in your waist to elongate and slim your figure in flare jeans or empire dresses. Ladies with broad shoulders might desire to divert eyes away from that area in bright colors worn on the bottom and high waisted skirts. The adverse is true for girls with a fuller derrière. Appropriately flaunt your shape in dark-colored bottoms, ruffled blouses, and jackets that hit right above the waist. If you have a straight up and down athletic figure like Miss. Palermo, then follow her style to the tee!

One fashion rule of Olivia’s that all can follow is the pointy toe stiletto or flat. Because, even if you’re not a runway model, you sure can fake it with a pointy toe. What better to complete an outfit than an elongated heel? All you have to do now is make rotating appointments for a prim blowout and manicure and stand back to admire how Olivia like you look!

There was a time when we were told to avoid stripes, particularly the horizontal kind as they made us look (gasp!) wide. But ever since the print strutted boldly down the runways late last year, the world has found it very hard to resist. Our favorite celebrities, models and fashion icons have been heavily marked with stripes all year – possibly making it the biggest trend for 2013.

The striped garments are coming in all different sizes and colors, not to mention directions. From the thin horizontal sweater to the bold, vertical flared pants. Stripes can make a little expression or a big statement, depending on the goal of your outfit. Some designers are even mixing and matching the print like Michael Kors (above) showcasing the Spring Collection during New York Fashion Week in September 2012. Fortunately for us, all our other favorite designers are on board and have produced some seriously striped collections recently including Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood, Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino and many more.

Now that Spring has finally arrived we might be hanging up our striped blazers but that doesn’t mean we have to hang up the stripes all together. As we move forward into the hot season, it’s safe to say that this print won’t be left behind. Expect to see some bright stripes all throughout the summer particularly on bikinis, beach bags, maxi dresses and even hats.

Style Tip: Mix black and white stripes with Emerald Green (Pantone’s 2013 Color of the year) and your outfit is sure to be striking.

Beyoncé is undoubtedly one of the most watched celebrities who maintain their grace, elegance and image at all times. So what are Beyoncé’s biggest dos and biggest don’ts? Let’s see the outfits that have split fashion critics and her best and arguably worst fashion choices of 2012-2013.

Now everyone remembers Beyoncé at the 2013 Grammys! Rather than go with an over elaborately long dress, Beyoncé chose a more simple but absolutely stunning two piece outfit. Her plain black ¾ length trousers flattered her figure immensely and were perfectly combined with her black and white block print tailored shirt. After they found out at the Grammys that too much flesh was not allowed, Beyoncé covered up perfectly well, having slits in the sleeve of her shirt gave us just enough skin. The fitting of the outfit was perfect for the beautiful mummy and complimented that beautiful curvy figure we love to see!

If we throw back to Beyoncé at the MET Gala in 2012, Beyoncé wore a dress which critics either loved or despised! We see Beyoncé in black and purple, needless to say this outfit wasn’t a plain and simple choice for Beyoncé. The net, lace and ruffles were all thrown in but was this a disastrous combination or a recipe for success? Critics were split, some saying that it was too tight and too revealing seeing as it was her debut after giving birth, however some were saying it complimented her perfectly well and shows how Beyoncé never fails to disappoint with quality outfits. Despite what critics said, Beyoncé shook her feather tails at critics and rocked her theatrical sheer dress with its stunning train. So was this a Beyoncé do or Beyoncé don’t? The decision is with you!

We all saw Beyoncé’s amazing performance at the 2013 Super Bowl. The star described the performance as the biggest moment in her career so it is only right that she creates an outfit that reflects this. Beyoncé looked amazing and was oozing with sexiness, however was it too sexy? Beyoncé was slammed by a lot of critics arguing the outfit was too risqué for the half time show but what do you think? Animal right group PETA moaned at Beyoncé for wearing an outfit said to be made of python and iguana and cow skins. We do not know exactly where Beyoncé’s designers sourced the skins from, but regardless; the wearing of animal skin and fur has always been a controversial issue amongst celebrities. E! Reported that the outfit took 200 hours to assemble so with an outfit that took that long to make, you have to be rocking it! Fans couldn’t have given Beyoncé more praise for her outfit as it added to the ever-sexy Beyoncé portfolio of hot outfits.

2012-2013 has definitely been a time of immense recognition for all of Beyoncé’s work and efforts. She won a countless number of awards including artist of the millennium and we have no doubt we can expect more from this hard working mother.

“It’s the most freeing thing!” ”You will never see me with long hair again!”

From Miley Cyrus’s gasp inducing cut to Miss. Theron’s liberating crop, Hollywood is abuzz with ‘pixie joy.’ Like swans, their elfin necks grace the red carpet no longer held down by the weight of hair products and extensions. In interviews they describe their crops as ‘liberating’ and ‘freeing’. Yes, it seems there is a new love affair with the pixie. And, for a cut that is turning 53 this year, it still hasn’t lost it’s edge.
Pixie regulars Michelle Williams, who famously said goodbye to her lengthy locks in honor of her late beau Heath Ledger, and Ginnifer Goodwin are joined by a new crop of leading ladies welcoming in a different standard of feminine beauty. Decades ago, Jean Seberg and Audrey Hepburn immortalized the cut as a celebration of youth and the spritely young girl. This time around, it’s served with a dose of empowerment and a dash of confidence and poise. The woman who wears the pixie today isn’t afraid of attention. In fact, she can handle it, both kinds. She knows who she is and proudly stands against any preconceived standards that long glistening locks are the female beauty standard. Buzzing off her locks to match her male counterparts, she believes in androgynous beauty, sometimes even reveling in it…

Many ladies describe the super-short cut as therapeutic, purifying. It’s a defiant act against an ideal of beauty, allowing women to say, “This is me. This is beautiful.” Gone are the countless hours spent blow drying with a swat team of products. Now, she merely opens her
eyes to smile at her reflection, to smile at her true self.

Which beautiful female do you think will be next to take the plunge? Who will confidently step into the limelight, no longer hiding behind the heavy weight of long hair? Perhaps, one of the Kardashians or even Jessica Alba? Who knows, maybe even you will dare to make the cut…

With the television show ‘Downton Abbey’ occupying our attention and the movie ‘The Great Gatsby’ debuting at the Sundance Film Festival, I predict a growing fad of 1920′s fashion over the next couple of months.

Sure it may have started a little in 2011 on the runways and in 2012 with celebrity hairstyles, but I expect drop waist dresses, headbands, and a fringe or two will finally drop into stores and our wardrobes for the 2013 seasons. After all, it wasn’t that long ago that Banana Republic debuted an Anna Karenina collection in honor of the film…

It appears that one retailer has already begun offering a few choices from the roaring twenties. Asos, always on trend and a little ahead of the pack, has a few of Jay Gatsby’s pieces for you to try. So, shimmy the night away in a heavily embellished dress or gingerly step back into the 20′s in a LBD with a drop waist. For the daring female, how about shining in a diamante hair band?

Women became liberated in the 1920′s working, voting, and even smoking (previously a custom considered taboo for women). As a way to solidify it all, two new fashions arose: cropped hair and red lips. The cropped hair was to emulate their male counterparts and the red lips were a reaction against the previous submissive image of women. Play into the era of women’s revolutions with a soft wave to your hair or pin it up for a shortening effect. Then stain the lips with a soft berry color or a dark vampy red. So simple, yet you’ll looking stunning.

One of the things I love about the ‘Jazz Age’ is that it was over the top with glamor. Rhinestones and furs were to be worn at the same time, as were dangling earrings and heavy necklaces. So, when pulling inspiration from this age, remember to be a little fearless with your finishing touches. You’re reliving the Roaring 20′s darling!

Before they were stars gracing us with their perfectly primed and prepped figures, they were normal women falling into a fashion faux pas here and there. Yet, learning from their past fashion mistakes and vowing never to fall into them again, these women now forever reign as the graceful swans they are today. So what exactly have they learned over the years?

The Pose

Have you ever wondered why Kerry Washington always smiles so demurely on the red carpet? Well, it wasn’t so long ago that this ‘Django Unchained’ stunner made a habit of being caught mouth open or striking an awkward pose. Saying cheese does not always make for the best picture. Rather, try straightening your back, relax your arms to your side, and give a subtle smile.

Dress for Your Body Type
Everybody’s favorite ‘New Girl’ Zooey Deschanel has a history of adding feminine touches to her fashion choices. The difference between then and now? The star often chooses 50’s silhouettes that bring in the waist and flare at the hip. This style flatters
most shapes, particularly boyish figures and pear shapes. Know your body type? Then find the most flattering silhouettes for your frame and stick with it. After all, Zooey did.

Save the Jeans for Errands

Jeans and a t-shirt are fine for running errands, but for special occasions, slip into something a bit more special. Create a little drama with a ruffled shirt worn under a sleek blazer. Or channel Audrey Hepburn in a full skirt demurely hitting the ankle while keeping the neckline and accessories simple.

Speaking of simple… Remember to Keep It Simple

It’s best to choose one focal point when dressing for a night out; hair, dress, accessories or shoes. If your dress has a few extra embellishments opt for your hair sleek or pulled back. If your hair is the focal point, don’t have the rest of your outfit compete with your perfectly styled tresses.

These are just a few of the lovely women gracing the red carpet today. If there is a star you see as style icon, trace back to she how her style has changed over the years and try to gauge what style tips she’s learned to look as fabulous as she does today.

Her character in The Hunger Games is known as “the girl on fire,” but the same could be said of Jennifer Lawrence with her great style choices for the red carpet. It’s easy to get that same look for your next formal event by following these simple guidelines.

Pick one bold feature. Jennifer Lawrence typically chooses one bold feature and that’s all. If she picks a dress with a crazy cut, it’s in a neutral color. If she picks a stand-out color or material, the cut of the dress is simple. This is always a good rule of thumb to follow, because too many interesting features on a dress can be distracting, and can actually make it look tacky rather than elegant.

Once you’ve chosen your bold feature, choose minimal amounts of jewelry and neutral accessories. This helps your bold choice to stand out even more, and doesn’t make it look like you’ve over-done it. Typically, Jennifer Lawrence chooses black or nude shoes that are simple yet elegant, and only a couple of bracelets, if she wears any jewelry at all.

As far as hair goes, less is more. Rather than going for something crazy and complicated, Jennifer Lawrence sticks with that girl-next-door look by keeping her hair loose. Often, she can be seen with her hair straightened and hanging completely loose. When she does put her hair in an updo, it’s usually loose and very simply elegant.

It’s no secret that Taylor Swift is beautiful, but what is her secret? As it turns out, she doesn’t have very many, which means it’s easy for you to get your makeup looking like hers. Here we unveil how to do Taylor Swift makeup.

The first tip is start with a nice clean palette. Having healthy skin is one of the easiest ways to keep your makeup looking great. Taylor Swift uses a night cream twice a day, once in the morning, and once before bed. This helps keep her skin healthy and young.

Although she admits to being inconsistent with it, Taylor Swift also uses makeup removal pads and facial scrubs to help keep her skin clean and clear and ready for makeup. There are numerous brands and types of products available, so be sure to choose one that works for you, and is not too harsh on your skin. Products with too many chemicals can actually cause your face to break out.

With so many celebrities and other people trying desperately to be tan, they forget the damage that it does to the skin. Learn from Taylor Swift and appreciate the natural beauty of natural lighter skin, and save yourself the trouble. She uses sun block when she knows she’s going to be out in the sun to avoid sunburn.

One thing that stands out with Taylor Swift’s makeup is her red lips. She uses a secret she learned from makeup artists at photo shoots to help those ruby red lips last all day. All you have to do is apply one layer of lipstick, blot it, and then press powder over a tissue and into your lips. This helps create a stain on your lips. To finish it off, put another coat of lipstick over that, and you’ll have lipstick that will last.

The other thing we love about Taylor Swift’s makeup is her eyes. To get that great look, start with black eyeliner and mascara. This alone can get your eyes to be as bold as hers. She uses a lot of different colors in adding eye shadow, and isn’t afraid to mix and match. When mixing and matching colors, it’s best to use several darker and more neutral colors paired with one contrasting bright color.

Be sure that you are careful with how much makeup you apply. If you’ve made your lips a dramatic red, go for a more subtle look around your eyes. But, if you want more attention drawn to your eyes, you can use bolder colors around your eyes with a nude lipstick to balance it out. If your skin is naturally as light as Taylor Swift’s, you can always add a bit of blush to your cheekbones to give yourself some color.

There are lots of hot hairstyles this summer to choose from. This year, most of the styles are focused on casual and low-maintenance looks that don’t usually look like you put a lot of effort into them. Keep in mind that you don’t need to have everything looking perfect to be in style this year.

One hairdo that looks almost like it was done by someone who wasn’t quite sure what they were trying to accomplish is the beachy look. This look is inspired by beach goers, whose hair has been dampened and dries naturally in loose waves. The beachy waves look best with longer hair, and when the bottom half of the hair is the only part that’s given waves, while the top half lays flat.

Possibly the easiest look to accomplish is the glistening locks. This style implies that your hair is still wet or damp from the shower. It gives the wearer a look of innocence and youth, but can also be rather sexy if the eyes are boldened by dark makeup. There are many different degrees that this can be done to, with hair that looks just barely wet to hair that looks dripping wet. Whatever you choose, this is a great summer hair style that can be done with any type and length of hair.

If you’re looking for a simple up-do, the ponytail is once again popular this season. Ponytails are great because they are simple and casual as well as very versatile. You can dress them with barrettes or put a twist on this classic style by only partially pulling the hair through. If done right, you can even wear the ponytail as a formal hairstyle to nice evening events. As long as your hair is long enough to be pulled back, you can rock a ponytail.

Also in the category of up-dos are braids and decorated buns. Braids this year have been seen in a number of forms this year, from tight cornrows to loose French braids. Whatever the occasion or your particular hair type, you are
sure to find a braid or twist that will work for you. Traditional buns are also in this year, but are much more decorated than traditionally. Some of the dressed up buns seen in fashion shows this year featured feathers, lots of twists, and even pearls.

However you choose to do your hair this summer, you’ll be sure to find something that works for you whether you are
going to the beach or a nice night out on the town.

Jennifer Aniston is famous for having fabulous hair styles throughout the years, and was voted the Sexiest Woman Alive in 2011 by Men’s Health Magazine. A huge part of what makes her sexy is the way she wears her hair. Jennifer Aniston’s hair is something that any woman can copy!

The key to pulling off a hair style like this beautiful celebrity is to look natural. All of her hair styles look as if she didn’t put a lot of effort into them. They are all styles that you can easily pull off yourself, probably using things you already have. There are three different lengths of hair that Jennifer Aniston is famous for having, and each type works a little differently for different faces.

The short styles she sported were the bobs. In 1995, her layered shag cut drew a lot of attention. She also sported a blunt chin-length bob in 2001, and a slightly longer version of that cut in 2011. This bob style is great for women who have oblong, square or diamond shaped faces as it’s great for softening lines and drawing attention to the eyes.

The bob can be a very classy look, and can be pulled off with any type of hair: curly, wavy, or straight. There are many different types of bobs, so you’re sure to find one that fits your personality. There are straight bobs that have harsher lines and are a bit more edgy, and layered bobs that are a bit more casual and have a much fuller look.

Jennifer Aniston’s most famous hairstyle is called “The Rachel,” named after the character she played on Friends for 10 years. This hairstyle is similar to the bob, but is longer and fuller, and has square cut layers. Even though it was only featured for the first two seasons of the show, and the show has been over for several years, this haircut remains popular especially in England.

Jennifer Aniston has also both straightened and curled her hair for various appearances. The straight look can easily be achieved by straightening your hair, duh, and then leaving it down. Go curly with a curling iron, and if your hair is naturally straighter, you may need to use gels or sprays to maintain your curly locks.
