Danier Design Challenge Crowns New Winner
For the second year in a row, Danier’s Design Challenge with Ryerson University’s School of Fashion gave an exceptional opportunity to an up-and-coming designer to have their design sold in Danier stores this fall as well as a generous cash prize.
The competition began with 75 third year Ryerson design students and was narrowed down to a top ten. The students had the opportunity to learn the art of working and crafting leather from Danier experts. The winner was chosen by an esteemed panel of judges, including Robert Ott, chair, Ryerson’s School of Fashion, Danier’s chief merchandising officer, Olga Koel, fashion icon, Jeanne Beker, renowned stylist George Antonopoulos and Tiyana Grulovic, fashion editor at the Globe and Mail and an interactive public online voting element.
First place was awarded to Andrea Dineen from London, Ontario, who used her fine art background to snag the top seat.
”I am extremely honoured to have my work chosen as the winner of this competition; I am thrilled at the thought that my design will be on sale at Danier this fall and can’t wait to see it being worn on the street,” said Andrea Dineen.
