Meet Me at the Disco

Ring in the New Year while paying tribute to history. From the fall runways to the spring, disco inspired items were walking down catwalks in Milan, Paris and Toronto. Whether it is a jumpsuit or sequin cocktail dress, a Studio 54 outfit is a must have for the holiday party season.

Christophe Decarnin made his own contemporary interpretation of disco for spring/summer 2010 by pairing silver, sparkling skinny pants with a military-esque blazer and combat boots for Balmain.

Donatella added a touch of seventies glam to her Alice in Wonderland inspired spring/summer 2010 collection for Versace with psychedelic prints and barely there minis.

Canadian fashion designer, Carlie Wong, showed a daring metallic floor length dress with a scandalous thigh-high slit at her fall/winter 2009 collection in Toronto.

Feeling venturesome? Throw on an Adam short-sleeve sequin sweatshirt and Alice + Olivia printed leggings or Christian Louboutin glitter peep-toes with Diane von Furstenberg’s Carolette jumpsuit for a show stopping, head-turning look.

If Balmain and Louboutin are not in your budget, H&M and Forever 21 are stocked with shiny and bright minis and sequined cardigans. You won’t have to worry about spilling your drink on a three thousand dollar dress while shaking your hips to Abba’s Dancing Queen.

When you are raising your glass of champagne and looking for your perfect New Year’s Eve kiss, think Donna Summer and party like it is 1977.
