Emma stole our hearts as Hermione Granger in the 2001’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and is still a vital part of the franchise seven films later. Who knew that young actress would be at the top of every best dressed list almost ten years later? The twenty year old, and 2009’s highest paid actress, had the fashion world a buzz when she became Burberry’s star girl, introducing the design house to a whole new and much younger customer base. We just can’t get enough of Emma.

Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana hit the blockbuster jackpot, scoring roles in both Star Trek and Avatar. This meant that Zoe had a hell of a media tour ahead of her, with a bundle of red carpets to attend. This gave her the opportunity to show off her style, looking absolutely flawless at every event. After realizing we could not spot a “miss”, we had no choice but to give her the second spot on our best dressed list. Be sure to check out Zoe in Calvin Klein’s Envy underwear campaign.

Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth has kept her mediocre film career afloat by being an undeniable fashionista and well… dating super hot guys (like her current boyfriend, True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard). But, let’s focus on her fashion. From exclusive fashion garden parties to hanging out at sports bars with her beau, Kate’s effortless style is hard to take your eyes off of. We are going to assume she doesn’t use a stylist to dress her for lunch or shopping with friends, that style is all her own.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez has been named “the next Miley Cyrus”, we can only hope for the complete opposite. Selena’s red carpet choices this year have had us paying more attention to the Emmy Award winning actress. Unlike her Disney counterparts, we adore that Selena keeps her style age appropriate, like the white number she wore to the 2010 Teen Choice Awards. She is a perfect style icon for young girls.

Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan’s popularity skyrocketed overnight with her Best Actress Oscar nomination for An Education. Suddenly the British actress and her boyfriend, Shia LeBeof, were being followed by paparazzi everywhere they turned. Her short hair-do and adorable looks immediately had us hooked. To top it all off the girl can dress. Currently on a media tour for her new film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Carey has wowed us at every red carpet and photo-op. Can’t wait to see what she does next.

Rachel Bilson

Since the days of Summer Roberts, Rachel Bilson has held the key to our hearts. I must admit, when I see her mentioned in the blogs, I always click to see what she is wearing. Rachel has a wonderful ability to put together and accessorize outfits. Her natural knack for fashion led her to create her own collection with DKNY jeans, Edie Rose, which launched in 2008. We are going to ignore the “ending the engagement” rumours in the press and focus solely on her ability to interpret seasonal trends perfectly every time we see her.

Emma Roberts

We have watched Emma Roberts, Julia Roberts’ niece, grow up before our eyes from Nancy Drew to Molly in the new edgy drug-movie, Twelve. These days the nineteen year old actress has a chic and more sophisticated grown-up look, sporting a lime green mini at the Teen Choice awards and a short black Marni dress at the Met Ball.

Leighton Meester

Gossip Girl fans can’t help but wonder what life is like for Blair Waldorf, well Leighton Meester gets to experience that life every day on set of every fashionista’s favourite TV show. Has the Upper East Sider’s style rubbed off on her? Leighton, unlike Blair, is daring, risk-taking and definitely edgy, although, many of Blair’s outfits have been quite over-the-top. Whether it is the work of a stylist or not, we would like to commend Leighton for taking chances with her look.

Katerina Graham

Speaking of over-the-top, Katerina Graham has become our latest guilty pleasure. Although, some of her outfit choices have us comparing her style to a wannabe Lady Gaga, the Vampire Diaries actress has not been afraid to take her fashion to the next level. With a music career in the works, we can’t wait to see her stage and music video costumes!

The Cast of Pretty Little Liars

Our summer obsession is ABC Family’s new teen drama, Pretty Little Liars. The four lead actresses, Torian Avery Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale and Shay Mitchell have popped up at every red carpet opportunity to promote the new hit television series. And after some careful consideration we must say, these girls have style! Although it is still early to tell, we are going to predict that these ladies will dominate the style pages of every magazine in the next year. The next Gossip Girl? Could be…

ONE launched “Coming Together as ONE” today — a new PSA campaign designed to mobilize young people to get involved in the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease. The public service announcements, which debut online and on TV this week, feature young stars from some of the hottest entertainment properties.

“In the last [US] election, and over the course of history, young people have shown that when we get organized and committed, we are powerful. The fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease in poor countries needs our support, our energy and our commitment,” said actress and ONE member Ashley Greene.

The spots were created by filmmaker Jesse Dylan who is known for a variety of films, music videos and the Emmy Award-winning “Yes We Can” Barack Obama campaign video collaboration with will.i.am. The PSAs feature actors and actresses Leighton Meester, Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl; Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone from Twilight; Hayden Panettiere from Heroes; Corbin Bleu from High School Musical; Tristan Wilds from 90210; John Cho from StarTrek and Brandon T. Jackson from Tropic Thunder. The :60 PSA is available online to watch and share at www.one.org/buzz.

“Some people might say young people don’t care about the world beyond our classroom, our family, our friends – but I don’t believe that’s true. In an increasingly global world, we have to look beyond ourselves. By raising our voices together, we can and will make a difference in the fight against extreme poverty and preventable disease,” said Bleu.

“Coming Together as ONE” is a campaign to recruit more young people into the growing global movement to fight extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa. ONE is asking youth to make their voices heard in the fight against extreme poverty, just as they did in the last US presidential election, and as they have over the course of history. As the PSA makes clear, young people have been at the heart of all major social justice campaigns, whether for civil rights, women’s rights or the fight against apartheid.

“Today’s young people have already shown us they are powerful change-makers. They’ve done it in the recent presidential election and many are looking for the next social movement,” said David Lane, President and CEO of ONE. “Coming Together as ONE aims to harness that power and build a buzz among Millennials. We know this generation can help defeat extreme poverty, put more kids in school and protect families from preventable disease such as AIDS, TB and malaria.”

“I think young people understand the issues facing our global community. Their ideas and actions can bring about change. I wanted to deliver the message in a way that was current, reflected their voice, and conveyed urgency,” said Jesse Dylan, director, FreeForm.

Only two more months until I am reunited with my best friends: Blair, Serena, Nate, Chuck, Dan and Vanessa. Until then, I am left to my own speculations and guesses as to what will happen when the Upper East Siders embark on their first year of college. Shameful hook ups, chaotic house parties and nasty dorm roommates are just some of the situations I hope to see this September when Gossip Girl returns.

  Word on the street is we will be seeing Georgina and Blair in the same dorm – two manipulative brats in one room can only be a bad thing. But, I am confident Blair will find a solution to the infestation. Doesn’t she always? Well, not without everything going wrong first.

• Serena and Dan were seen smooching during filming in New York City. But, this could just be the actors off-screen kissing because they are in fact a couple.

• Serena and Dan’s half-brother will become a character in the new season. No idea yet how soon they will discover his true identity.

• There are two new ladies on set: Hilary Duff and Joanna Garcia (Privileged). They will both be playing new love interests for Dan and Nate. Hilary will play Olivia, a movie star who is seeking a traditional college experience. Joanna will be playing Bree Buckley a cheeky and possibly evil Miss America-type who hails from a conservative Southern family.

• The actor who will play Serena and Eric’s father has yet to be cast or his identity has been kept a secret… if they are successful in finding him…

• Jenny is now the Queen of the Upper East Side. How she will affect the new class of unpleasant teenagers?  She could return to her fashion designing roots or become a Marissa Cooper-type druggy that gets into all sorts of ugly situations. I vote for situation number two.

The Party

The launch of The Model as Muse exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art includes an enormous gala that rivals the red carpet at the Oscars.

Justin Timberlake and girlfriend Jessica Biel were among the first to arrive at the MET for the this year’s gala. Timberlake wore a William Rast suit and geek-chic glasses, while Biel was on his arm in red Versace. Marc Jacobs, the man and host behind the exhibit, waltzed in with Kate Moss, who wore a backless metallic toga dress and a turban.

The showstopper? Had to be Madonna and her interesting Louis Vuitton ensemble. The L.A. Times said that Madonna looked “ready for Neverland … like the love child of Tinkerbell and Captain Hook.”

Christian Dior brought along Academy Award winning actress Marion Cotillard who wore his design for Christian Dior. Kanye West worked a Louis Vuitton suit, while his lady Amber Rose looked stunning in Carolina Herrera. Mary-Kate Olsen with longer messier blonde hair wore Christian Lacroix Couture. Her sister Ashley looked beautiful in backless white dress, her own design from The Row.

Jessica Alba wore a shorter number by Michelle Obama’s favourite, Jason Wu. Tyra Banks smiled with her eyes while posing for photos in her Badgley Mischka gown.

Brooke Shields wore Calvin Klein, obviously!

Leighton Meester looked adorable with her new blonder hair in a standout Louis Vuitton outfit. Kate Beckinsale wowed the photographers in her Marchesa gown. Liv Tyler channeled old Hollywood glam in a Stella McCartney dress. Blake Lively wore Versace, she was one of the last to arrive, her date Penn Badgley told reporters that they were having a wardrobe malfunction. Agyness Deyn and Twiggy arrived arm-in-arm, both wearing Burberry. And last, but certainly not least, Rihanna made her comeback to the red carpet with an androgynous look by Dolce & Gabbana.

The Exhibit

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibit The Models As Muse: Embodying Fashion, takes a look at how models played a role in inspiring fashion through several eras.

The exhibition is organized by the Costume Institute’s director Harold Koda and guest curator Kohle Yohannan. It features about 80 looks arranged according to decade.

Beginning with a peek into the post-WWII resurgence of American fashion and advertising, you can find photographs of Lisa Fonssagrives, Suzy Parker, Dovima, Sunny Harnett, and Dorian Leigh in what was called the Golden Age of Haute Couture.

The ’60s “Youthquake” display pays homage to models such as Peggy Moffitt and Twiggy with ensembles from Paco Robanne, Andre Courreges and Rudi Gernreich.

The ‘70s were about the All-American athletic-looking model, when women like Jerry Hall and Lisa Taylor were the muse. The exhibit features boho looks form Yves Saint Laurent and Halston dresses.

Moving on to the ‘80s in an era of the supermodel, where the “trinity”, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington, appeared in all the designer campaigns.

The ‘90s marked a shift from beautiful supermodels to rebel girls such as Kate Moss, along with the minimalism of Donna Karan and Prada.

If you are in the New York area or traveling to the city, it’s worth checking out. The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion exhibit runs from May 6 – Aug 9.

The staff at AdornedMagazine.com deliberated, argued and then voted on who we thought were the best of the best dressed in young Hollywood. The rules: You must be 1. Young, 2. Famous, and 3. Have impeccable taste in clothing. Here is who took the top ten spots:

1. Zoe Kravitz

History lesson: Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet were pretty much the Brad and Angelina on the late 1980s. They were the most beautiful, electric couple of the time and they produced an equally beautiful child.

Zoe Kravitz not only got her parents’ good looks, she got their bohemian fashion sense as well. Think hippie headbands, piles of long necklaces and drapey, flowy tunics and dresses. She looks like she rolled around in the bins at Value Village and we mean that in the best possible way.

With effortless style and a laid-back, indie vibe, Zoe is one to keep your eye on.

2. Mary-Kate Olsen

No best-dressed list is complete without an Olsen.

Mary-Kate is a fashionista’s fashionista. She doesn’t follow the trends, she starts them, whether it’s bug-eyed sunnies, boho-chic layers, gothic glam makeup, or linebacker-esque shoulder pads.

Even though she’s teeny-tiny, the girl is not afraid to experiment with bold prints and mega-volume. (Although maybe it’s her towering heels that keep her from getting swallowed up in those floor-length caftans.) And she’s the undisputed queen of the “I just rolled out of bed and threw on the first vintage dress and Givenchy jacket I found” look, which is totally our favourite look!

In a world of imitators, MK is a true original. And we love her for it!

3. Lady Gaga

Pants are sooo démodé. At least, that’s what we imagine Lady Gaga says to herself every morning before she leaves the house in a bodysuit and not much else.

Oh, what we wouldn’t give to pick the Lady’s brain about her sartorial choices. From futuristic sunglasses to thigh-high lace-up boots to an eye-zipper (yes, we said ‘eye-zipper’), Lady Gaga isn’t afraid to experiment with fashion and to go to extremes. While some may dismiss her look as a kooky gimmick, we see a woman who has a killer sense of style (and killer legs to match). And we think we’d be more than a little disappointed if she showed up on the red carpet in jeans, because that’s just not the Lady we know and love.

4. Leighton Meester

Hello Upper East Siders.

Gossip Girl is not just our favourite show on television, it’s our stylish obsession. And Blair Waldorf and her headbands and structured schoolgirl blazers are a major part of that fashion lust.

Of course Leighton Meester, the woman behind la Waldorf, is more than just preppy chic. A fixture in the front row of New York Fashion Week, Leighton is becoming one of the fashion world’s newest darlings.

While her alter-ego lives in a world where teenage boys parade around in purple suits and girls go to college interviews in cleavage-baring blouses, Leighton prefers to keep things more simple, especially on the red carpet. And by ‘simple’ we mean cute cocktail dresses in a veritable rainbow of colours.

5. Chanel Iman

Chanel Iman burst onto the modeling scene when she won Ford Model’s Supermodel of the World in 2006. Shortly after she walked the runway for the fashion’s top designers including Dolce & Gabbana, Issey Miyake, Marc Jacobs, Valentino, Dsquared, Hermès, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta, Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui, Diane von Fürstenberg, Vera Wang, Jean Paul Gaultier and Stella McCartney.

At 19 this girl has achieved so much. But, Chanel shows no signs of slowing down. She wants to try her hand at designing for a big fashion house like Louis Vuitton. We would love to see what she comes up with!

6. Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens’ life is perfect! Not only is she dating a teen heartthrob, she is also making loads of cash off of those High School Musical movies… topped off with that Neutrogena campaign.

But seriously, constantly living in the shadow of her boyfriend Zac Efron must get annoying at times. Which probably explains the choices she makes with her wardrobe. You can spot Vanessa on the red carpet always adorned in bright shades; or shopping in Los Angeles in a belted men’s shirt and some hot pumps. Vanessa likes to stand out, making sure the paparazzi don’t overlook her on their way to her arm candy.

Something you may not know about Vanessa is a true global creation. Seriously! She’s part Irish, Native American, Filipino, Spanish and Chinese. No wonder she has such an exotic look!

7. Lauren Conrad

We are going to miss Lauren Conrad’s mascara tears and Speidi confrontations when she exits The Hills this season. But, we hope to still catch her on the red carpet.

Having worked at Teen Vogue and People’s Revolution, Lauren has learned quite a bit about fashion since we first saw her on Laguna Beach. Long gone are her flip-flops and tanks –Lauren is now a certified fashionista and a designer.

Although her line is currently on hiatus, we hear that she has partnered up with Kohl’s to design a collection of affordable apparel launching this fall. Can’t wait!

8. Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift stole our hearts this year after she went public about her breakup with Joe Jonas. Can you believe he broke up with her via text message Ouch! Not cool, JJ!

Anyway, she didn’t let her first broken heart lead her down a dark path. Instead, she wrote songs about it and ended up having a number one album and many accolades to go along with it.

We like that Taylor is a good role model and not interested in being over-the-top sexy or raunchy. Her style is classy and sophisticated — which certainly makes her stand out among her colleagues. Did you know she recently made People magazine’s ‘World’s Beautiful People’ list? Take that, Joe Jonas!

9. Camilla Belle

Camilla Belle is the daughter of Brazilian Designer Cristina Routh — meaning she grew up with a instinctive knowledge of fashion. She is a front row regular at New York Fashion Week shows, as well as the muse and face of Vera Wang’s Princess perfume. She is also quite popular with the boys. Camilla was the ‘other woman’ in the Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas break-up, and has also been spotted with Twilight heartthrob Rob Pattinson. This girl has got it going on!

We also love her perfectly groomed eyebrows, (ahem… something she has in common with the Jonas brother).

What you may not know about Camilla is that she is a classical pianist. Good Looks? Check. Smarts? Check. Check.

10. Ciara

We have been dancing to her tunes since she first sang about her Goodies back in 2004. Now all grown up, Ciara has moved away from those baggy pants and hoodies and is rocking a more sexy style with the body to match.

Have you seen her legs? Wow! We are still fanning ourselves after watching her Love Sex Magic video featuring Justin Timberlake! And she’s only getting started!

We expect to see a lot more stylish looks from this sultry songstress as she prepares to debut her third studio album, Fantasy Ride, in stores May 5th.
